The Electric Division has scheduled a power outage for planned maintenance work on Ville Drive between US93 and Bighorn Drive on Friday morning September 23, 2016 from 1:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m. Businesses that will be affected by the outage are the Lakeview Terrace, Terrible Herbst gas station and the Quality Inn. These businesses have been notified of the outage.
Whalen Field Restroom:
This project was advertised for bids on September 8, 2016. Bids are due on October 6, 2016. A Pre-Bid Conference has been scheduled for September 20, 2016. This project is the construction of a restroom facility at Whalen Field with an additive alternate bid for a storage area, concession stand and scorer’s booth. The project is divided into two bid schedules. One for the restroom portion of the building and the second for the storage/concession/scoring portion of the building. The City has budgeted for the restroom portion of the building and a local resident has expressed interest in donating to the project for the storage/concession/scoring portion. Public Works separated the bidding schedules in order to have costs for both portions of the building in case the public comes forward with donations for the whole building.
The Pre-Bid conference was conducted this week in City Hall. Three potential bidders attended the meeting.
Police Department Restroom Remodel:
The contractor, Witcco, is working on completing cabinet and sink installations, partition installation, touch up painting, vinyl cove base installation and various clean up items.
69kV Transmission Loop:
This design contract was awarded to HDR Engineering at the September 13, 2016 City Council meeting. Staff has scheduled the kickoff meeting with HDR for September 29, 2016.
Utah Street Reconstruction:
Staff conducted the pre-construction conference with Aggregate Industries – SWR Inc. on September 7, 2016. The Notice-to-Proceed date has been set for September 26, 2016. Aggregate is scheduled to begin field work October 3, 2016 after the Art in the Park event.
Bravo Field Renovations – CMU Wall Construction:
The contractor, CG&B Enterprises, Inc. has started making materials submittals for staff review. This project is for construction of the CMU block walls for the new dugouts.
Buchanan Boulevard Sewer Manhole Rehabilitation:
The contractor, Olson Precast Company, is scheduled to begin work after they obtain their encroachment permit from the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) for working on US93. Olson anticipates obtaining their permit the week of October 3, 2016. This project is to clean and apply a new protective coating on the interior of 17 manholes in US93 and in Buchanan Boulevard. The manholes are located along US93 and Buchanan from next to Albertsons to Del Rio Way.
City Shops Concrete Slab:
The contractor, Muller Construction, installed conduits and poured the new slab this week.
Water Service Laterals Replacements – 2016:
This project was awarded to Mountain Pine Construction at the September 13, 2016 City Council meeting. Staff is working with Mountain Pine to process the contacts and schedule the pre-construction conference. This project is the replacement of existing plastic water services with new copper water services at various locations around town. The plastic water services are being replaced due to failures in the material causing water leaks. Copper water services have a much more dependable and longer service life than plastic water services.
Boulder Creek Restroom – Utility Installations:
Staff is working on scheduling a pre-construction conference with Mountain Pine. This project is the installation of a water service, sewer lateral and electric conduit in preparation for a new restroom on the Boulder Creek Golf Course near Clubhouse Drive and Buchanan Boulevard.
Boulder Creek Restroom – Building Construction:
This project was advertised on Thursday, September 22, 2016. Bids are due on Thursday, October 27, 2016. This project is the construction of a new restroom on the Boulder Creek Golf Course near Clubhouse Drive and Buchanan Boulevard.
Juniper Way Paving:
Aggregate Industries, Inc. paved Juniper Way this week.
Georgia Avenue 15 Inch Sewer Main Replacement:
This project was advertised on Thursday, September 22, 2016. Bids are due on Thursday, October 20, 2016. This project is the removal of a section of existing, damaged sewer main and installation of new sewer main. The work also includes bypass pumping of the sewer main, concrete drainage channel removal and replacement, asphalt and curb and gutter replacement.
Fleet Smog Testing 2016:
This annual contract was advertised for bids on the City’s website on Wednesday, September 21, 2016. Bids are due on Thursday, October 6, 2016. This contract is for performing the annual smog testing for City fleet vehicles. This contract is extendable each year for up to three years, if both parties agree.
Boulder City Tap Transformer and Breaker Replacements:
Staff received the 60% plans and specification submittal from TOR Engineering on September 6, 2016. Staff is working on our review and preparing comments to send to TOR. This project is the design of the replacement of the circa 1964 transformer and breakers at the Boulder City Tap to insure reliable electric service for the City.
