Written examination will be held Monday, August 25, 2008, at 9:00 a.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers located at 401 California Avenue, Boulder City, Nevada. The passing score for the written examination is 70% and the top 15 scoring candidates passing the written examination will be scheduled for the oral board examination. Written examination may consist of filing and checking, English language skills, reading and understanding written information, numerical skills, and interpersonal skills/customer service skills.
Oral board examinations will be scheduled for Wednesday, August 27, 2008, starting at 8:30 a.m. in City Hall Conference Room 1 located at 401 California Avenue, Boulder City, Nevada. The oral examinations will be administered to the top 15 scoring candidates who earn at least a minimum score of 70% on the written examination. This position is under the direct supervision of the chain of command and dispatches emergency and non-emergency equipment and personnel in response to calls for service, including police, fire, rescue, and animal control using a two-way radio and provides information to police officers using a teletype.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Graduation from high school or the equivalent.
Minimum of one (1) year recent satisfactory service as a full time public safety dispatcher in a local law enforcement or firefighting agency.

The Police Department is seeking individuals to serve our community as Volunteer Police Auxiliary members in support of the Boulder City Police Department. The duties and responsibilities assigned to Police Auxiliary personnel are dependent upon the training and certifications each member receives.
Police Auxiliary members perform a service to the community without compensation. Members of the Police Auxiliary are not allowed to carry weapons and are not provided with arrest powers. This program would offer individuals an opportunity to assist their Police Department by handling a variety of tasks which may include traffic control, supervision of our community service program, and additional services to the community. Physical Fitness Examination - (Pass/Fail): Lateral entry police officer applicants who possess certification from a state other than Nevada will be required to meet Nevada P.O.S.T. physical fitness standards. Applicants will be required to pass a physical fitness examination at time of conditional job offer. The physical fitness examination consists of a vertical jump, sit-ups, push-ups, 300-meter run and 1.5 mile run/walk.
Lateral entry police officer applicants who possess certification from a state other than Nevada will be required to pass the Nevada P.O.S.T. equivalency examination within one year of their hire date. Failure to pass the Nevada P.O.S.T. equivalency within one year will result in immediate termination.

This position performs skilled electrical work in the construction, maintenance, installation, and repair of overhead and underground electric distribution and transmission systems of the municipally owned electric distribution system in accordance with standard procedures.
Position requires: Must be at least 18 years of age at time of application. High School diploma or GED equivalent; and completion of a recognized three year apprenticeship program as an electric lineworker.

Working Conditions: Subject to adverse weather conditions and hazards associated with working at heights, in precarious positions, with electrical equipment and wires. Performs physically demanding work in lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying heavy objects, and climbing power poles and steel towers.
