[ARCHIVED] National Night Out returns Oct. 1

An attendee enjoys the 2018 National Night Out event.

Learn about safety and get to know the community during the 2019 National Night Out (NNO). Boulder City Police will host this fun-filled annual event at Veterans’ Memorial Park Tuesday, Oct. 1, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. It is one of the biggest (and in our opinion, the best!) NNO events in all of Nevada.

Kids can complete an obstacle course, play in bounce houses and more. The highlight is the softball game between two teams: Boulder City High School (BCHS) Alumni against the dedicated forces of Boulder City Police and Fire Departments. Law enforcement vehicles, equipment and personnel representing local, state and federal agencies from around the valley also will be on hand. Community services, including Boulder City Police Department and Fire Department, National Park Service, Nevada Highway Patrol, School District Police, and others, will be present. K-9 and mounted police demonstrations, emergency vehicle displays and a helicopter will be there too (conditions permitting).

“The national organization recognized the extreme temperatures in the Southwest part of the country make it difficult to hold the event in August, so they added the first Tuesday in October as an option,” said Police Chief Tim Shea. “This year we expect a bigger crowd because of the cooler temperatures. I also want to share my appreciation for those who help make this event happen – it is truly a team effort.”

National Night Out is an annual, nationwide, community-building event that promotes partnerships between public safety agencies and residents, strengthens relationships with neighbors, and provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.
