[ARCHIVED] Boulder City Police Bust Illegal Marijuana Grow Operation

Suspects in Illegal Marijuana Grow Operation

Boulder City Police Bust Illegal Marijuana Grow Operation

BOULDER CITY – Approximately one million dollars in illegally-grown marijuana is off the streets and two men are in custody as Boulder City Police shut down an unlicensed grow operation in the city limits Thursday night.

Boulder City Police received a tip from an alert citizen of a strange odor in an industrial condo located in the 1600 block of Ann Way. Upon arrival, officers detected the strong odor associated with marijuana. Police arrested two suspects as they exited the unit, before securing a search warrant for the premises. Inside the unit, police found approximately 800 marijuana plants at various stages of growth weighing approximately 360 lbs., with approximately 6 lbs. of processed marijuana. One pound of illegal marijuana sells for $2,500 to $3,500 on the street.

Boulder City Police requested the assistance of Las Vegas Metro Police Department narcotics street team and interdiction team to help process the crime scene, plants and equipment.

Police believe the two suspects may be connected to a larger, organized drug ring. They are being held at the Clark County Detention Center.

The bust occurs just days after Boulder City Police announced two separate investigations that led to 13 arrests connected to drug trafficking. “We’ve heard the campaign, ‘See something, say something;’ in this case, that singular voice helped prevent these drugs from hitting the streets,” said Boulder City Police Chief Tim Shea. “Our community won’t stand for these drug peddlers to ruin our community. Once again, I am proud of the dedication and commitment shown by our law enforcement officers in fighting drug crime.”
