Christmas trees are one of the recognized traditions of the holiday season. But what happens after the holiday season? Most people simply throw their trees away, yet trees take up valuable space in our City-owned landfill.
Trees after the holidays are not trash; they are a valuable organic material that can be recycled and chipped into mulch. This mulch can be used in gardens and other landscaped areas to help conserve soil moisture and keep plants healthy. Recycling your tree is a gift that will keep on giving back to people in the community long after the holidays. From December 26 – January 16, you may drop-off your Christmas tree for free at the Bravo Ball Field parking lot located at the corner of Avenue B and Sixth Street (south of the public pool and racquetball complex).
