BOULDER CITY – Boulder City Police Chief Tim Shea met with the organizer of a protest that was planned near the Boulder City Police Department for Thursday, June 4, 2020. He issued the following statement:
“Our meeting was very productive. We discussed concerns about the recent events in other cities and the tensions after the Metro Police Officer was shot Monday night. The organizer affirmed that the first amendment-protected event over an injustice in Minneapolis was always meant to be peaceful; but due to baseless rumors, fear, and threats, agreed that now is not the time to hold the event.
Boulder City Police Officers are continuing to work with regional partners to monitor and ensure civility. We are also monitoring local social media sites where some people have been introducing misinformation. We ask that residents look to Boulder City website (www.bcnv.org) for accurate information. We have also received many calls from residents who want to show support. We appreciate the support but ask that you not call or visit the Department as the number of calls and emails is our taxing the system and not allowing officers to answer routine calls in a timely fashion. Be assured that we are taking all steps necessary to ensure the safety of our residents and our community.”
