[ARCHIVED] EXTENDED: BC Offers COVID-19 Testing on Tuesdays through August

UPDATE: Due to the response of the community asking for continued testing, the Boulder City Fire Department will continue to provide free testing on Tuesdays, by appointment, through August. See the flyer here.

BOULDER CITY – The number of COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations is on the rise across the nation. The City of Boulder City wants residents to remain informed and protected in order to safeguard our residents from this deadly pandemic. Starting July 7, a total of four clinics will be held, including weekly community testing, at the Boulder City Fire Department.

Boulder City, in partnership with Boulder City Hospital the Southern Nevada Health District, plan to offer community testing, by appointment, at the Fire Department on Tuesday mornings through July from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.   This will be dependent on staffing availability, as Fire and EMS response will take precedence (if we have a significant event, appointments would be rescheduled).

“We are doing what residents of Boulder City have always done: looking out for each other,” said Boulder City Mayor Kiernan McManus. “Testing is important as some people who have COVID-19 may not show symptoms but can still spread this highly contagious virus. Help keep your family, friends, co-workers and those that provide service to us safe and healthy.”

Boulder City Paramedics and Boulder City Hospital Nurses will administer the nasal swab tests, which are shorter and far less invasive than the earlier tests. Patients must provide a name, address, and contact information in order to get the free testing. Results take about one week. No doctors orders are required.

You must be a Boulder City resident and have an appointment in advance. Call 702.293.9256 starting on Monday, July 6 from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. to make an appointment. Nasal swab tests determine if you currently have the virus; they are not blood tests to determine if you have antibodies.

See the flyer here.  Visit our COVID-19 webpage for more news and information: www.bcnv.org/COVID-19.
