[ARCHIVED] Boulder City Small Business Recovery Grant Applications Open this Week

City Hall Spring 2020

BOULDER CITY – In September, the City Council of Boulder City set aside federal funds from the COVID-19 Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act Relief Funds for local businesses. Many businesses located within Boulder City with a current business license can apply for a grant using federal CARES Act Relief Funds. A total of $190,000 will be available to provide operational support to small businesses.

"The City recently received the initial distribution of CARES Act funding Congress approved earlier this year", said Boulder City Mayor Kiernan McManus. "The City Council recognizes the challenges we all face in dealing with this pandemic and increased the recommended funding for these grants to support our local businesses." The City Council also approved grant funding for local non-profits to assist local residents and the Senior Center.

Eligible grant uses include working capital (rent, utilities, inventory, payroll, license fees, etc.) or the purchase of supplies and equipment (personal protective equipment, sanitizers, plexiglass partitions, etc.) to protect customers and employees and slow the spread of the virus. “Most businesses could not have planned for the enormous impacts of COVID-19,” said City Manager Al Noyola. “We are hoping businesses can use this funding to recoup some of the losses they’ve faced over the past eight months.”

Grant applications will be accepted from October 15 until October 30, 2020 at midnight. Requirements include:

  • Must have a physical location in Boulder City.
  • Must have active Boulder City business license.
  • Must have 20 or fewer full-time equivalent employees as of March 15, 2020.
  • Must have been in business on or before September 15, 2019.
  • Must demonstrate financial hardship.

“All application information will be verified by City staff and awarded businesses will be required to sign an agreement certifying COVID-related economic distress,” said Raffi Festekjian, Boulder City Economic Development Coordinator. If businesses have questions, please contact Raffi Festekjian (Economic Development Coordinator) at 702.293.9393 between the hours of 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday-Thursday.

Businesses that have not received federal assistance will be prioritized, but will not be disqualified if it received federal assistance through the Payroll Protection Program or any other assistance program.
