BOULDER CITY – The City of Boulder City announced today that Marissa Adou, who has been serving as Interim Airport Manager since March, has been promoted to serve as the Manager of the Boulder City Airport. She replaces Willy Williamson who retired in late February.

Adou obtained a Bachelor of Science in Aviation Management degree from St. Cloud State University in Minnesota. She holds American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) certification and membership, has developed a network of other aviation professionals as the past President of the Nevada Airports Association, and has a total of 16 years aviation experience.

Adou has been working at the Boulder City Airport since 2009. “I am a student pilot, and started flying when I was 16 years old,” Marissa said. “My favorite thing about working in an airport our size is I get to do a little bit of everything, and that keeps work interesting. I’m looking forward to the next chapter as Airport Manager.” Marissa and her husband have two daughters.

The City engaged in a nationwide search to fill the Airport Manager vacancy in March, including through the AAAE website. Eighteen people applied for the position and the top five candidates were interviewed. “After consideration of a number of factors such as education, experience and interpersonal communications skills presented during the interview, interim Airport Manager Marissa Adou was the most qualified candidate,” said Acting City Manager Michael Mays. “The Airport Manager is a vital position that requires extensive experience in airport management, and we are fortunate to have Marissa on our team.”

The City will be announcing the Assistant Airport Manager vacancy in the coming days.
