Boulder City, RTC Contract will Improve Roads

BOULDER CITY – One of Boulder City’s residents most requested projects could start in the fall, now that City Council approved an agreement with the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) for project construction funding. RTC’s annual Arterial Reconstruction Program will provide over $3 million for street reconstruction and improvements in the Golf Course Estates subdivision, near the Boulder City Municipal Golf Course.

The Arterial Reconstruction Program helps maintain and improve transportation system infrastructure. The RTC’s Fiscal Year 2022 Capital Improvement Plan allocated $3,045,000 to Boulder City. This program includes design, construction, and construction management for the reconstruction of Bermuda Dunes Drive, Broadmoor Circle and Court, Hilton Head Drive, Indian Wells Drive, Royal Birkdale Drive and St. Andrews Court (see attached map) in the Golf Course Estates subdivision. Vaquero Drive and Marjay Court are also included with the project.

Boulder City will start advertising for bids soon on the Nevada Government E-Marketplace, and staff hope to award the contract in early September. “Boulder City is fortunate to have a great partner in the RTC. Projects like this are costly, but necessary for safe infrastructure,” said Taylour Tedder, City Manager. “If all goes as scheduled, we could see work starting in late September or early October.”

The City for its part of the agreement is responsible for the design, inspection, construction, or contract administration of the project. “We have talented staff and engineers ready to take on this project,” said Jamie Curreri, Public Works Director for Boulder City. “Once complete, the City is responsible for maintaining the roads. We look forward to restoring these streets for the residents and visitors.”

The roads, about 40 years old now, were slurry sealed more than ten years ago, but they have never been repaved. Curreri says the project should be complete by the end of the year.
