BOULDER CITY – It’s been a Boulder City tradition for 76 years: Damboree is a family friendly, fun-filled Fourth of July celebration! Be sure to start early and stay all day. Events include:
- The Rotary Club of Boulder City will hold the annual Pancake Breakfast on July 4 from 7 a.m. – 9 a.m. in Bicentennial Park, 1100 Colorado St.
- The Damboree Parade starts at 9:00 a.m. with more than 80 entries received. The route begins on Colorado Street and continues down Nevada Highway to 5th Street and on to Broadbent Memorial Park. The parade’s “water zone” runs from Avenue A to Avenue B and Avenue B to the end of the parade at 6th Street. This is the only location along the route where water play will be allowed. (WATER BALLOONS ARE PROHIBITED.)
- As the parade ends at 10:00 a.m., stop by Broadbent Park where non-profit vendors provide food, beverages and beer for purchase. Bring the kids to the Boulder City pool at 11:00 a.m. for the annual coin toss (admission is the price to enter the pool).
- Festivities will continue at Veteran's Memorial Park, 1650 Buchanan Blvd. from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. Food, music and games will be available. The fireworks show begins at 9 p.m. Entry is $20 per vehicle.
While Boulder City staff supports much of the day’s events, Damboree would not be possible without volunteers. “We appreciate the volunteers who work with non-profit organizations like the Damboree Committee, providing great events for residents and visitors alike each year,” said acting City Manager Michael Mays. “We expect this year’s turnout to be one of the best on record!” See the event flyer at www.bcnv.org/damboree.
The Eldorado Valley Dry Lake Bed Recreation Area is closed to the public every year from July 3 until July 5. The closure prevents gatherings, littering and degradation that has occurred there in the past, when people left their trash and even human waste there. The presence of alcohol and use of illegal fireworks created public safety concerns and emergency response challenges for City police and fire departments, prompting the City Council in 2014 to approve Resolution 6124, closing the recreation area annually July 3-5.
