BOULDER CITY - Boulder City Municipal Airport is a wonderful place to fly in … but it could use a great place to hold a meeting or grab a bite to eat. The City Council is looking to make available 43 acres of city land for lease at the airport.  The City is accepting Requests for Proposals (RFPs) until 1:00 p.m. on March 31, 2025.

Boulder City Municipal Airport (KBVU) is located less than four miles from the heart of Boulder City; approximately 25 miles southeast of Las Vegas. It is categorized by the FAA as a non-hub primary commercial service airport and is the third busiest airport in Nevada based on enplanements. It is not affiliated with Clark County Department of Aviation; it is completely owned and sponsored by the City.  Currently several businesses operate there, including Fixed Base Operators (FBOs), air tour companies, helicopter maintenance overhaul and repair station, avionic shops, paint booth, and aircraft parts. The airport has enjoyed increased activity in recent years due to Las Vegas events including “Super Bowl LVIII” and the F-1 Racing.

The City will review all responses presented by qualified respondents, to determine the best uses to develop at the airport. The City Council may agree to lease two portions of undeveloped land near the airport (see map). Suggested uses in the RFP include:

  • Business Space (office, hangar, ramp area) for aviation businesses
  • General Aviation Hangar Space
  • Shade Hangars/Covered Tie Down
  • Adequate parking for aircraft and vehicles for the designed development
  • Overflow Parking area or garage
  • Restaurant
  • Large meeting space
  • Conference Room Space (minimum capacity 250 persons, with amenities)

The City recognizes the need for more general aviation aircraft storage and other aeronautical uses. These are activities that involve, make possible, or are required for the operation of aircraft or that contributes to or is required for the safety of such operations.  The Airport is also in the process of adding an Air Traffic Control Tower (ATCT) with construction expected to start in late 2025 to early 2026. Let’s elevate the BVU experience!
